Stopping text message reminders

How to opt out of docEvault text reminders, what happens after you do, and how to start receiving them again.

Opting out

Reply STOP to any text you've received. That's it — it takes effect straight away.

What happens after you opt out

You'll stop receiving text reminders. A few things worth knowing:

  • Email reminders continue. STOP applies to texts only. If you want those to stop as well, contact the firm directly.
  • The opt-out applies to your phone number, not to one particular firm's messages.
  • If your number is on file with more than one contact record — for example a phone shared with a family member, or a number a firm has recorded twice — the opt-out covers all of them.

You'll still need to send your documents

Opting out of texts doesn't cancel the request. The firm is still waiting for your documents, and you can still upload them any time using the link in your email. See How to upload your documents.

Starting them again

Text START to the same number you received messages from.

This has to come from you. Once you've opted out, the block is held by the mobile carriers rather than by docEvault or the firm, so nobody can switch your texts back on from their end — not the firm, not docEvault support. Only a START message from your phone clears it.

If you'd rather not text START, just tell the firm you'd prefer email.

Still stuck? The firm that sent you the request is the fastest place to get an answer — reply to their email or use the message box in your upload portal.
