Signing up
Every new organization starts with a 14-day free trial. No credit card is needed.
- Go to docevault.com and choose Start Free Trial. (From the sign-in page, choose Sign Up Free.)
- Enter your name, your work email, your firm's name and a password, and pick a plan and billing cycle. You can change the plan later, and nothing is charged during the trial.
- Choose Create Account. We email you a link to confirm your address. Open it within 24 hours to finish; your account isn't created until you do. Nothing arrived? Check your spam folder, or sign up again a minute later to get a new link.
- You'll land in your new organization's dashboard, as its owner.
To sign up with Google instead, fill in your firm's name first and then choose the Google button. If you're already signed in to Google in your browser, the button may say Continue as and your name instead of Sign up with Google; it does the same thing. If you choose it before entering your firm's name, docEvault asks for the name and you choose the button again. Your Google account's email address is used, and there's no confirmation email.
If your email address already has a docEvault account, signing up sends you an email saying so instead; sign in, or use Forgot password? on the sign-in page.
Creating an account means agreeing to the Terms of Service and confirming you're using docEvault for a business or professional practice.
If a colleague's firm already uses docEvault, ask them to add you from Team instead — see Inviting team members. A second organization wouldn't share their contacts or templates.
Your free trial
The trial lasts 14 days. While it runs there are a few limits (up to 15 e-signature requests, 50 client emails a day and 25 text messages a day), and they go away as soon as you subscribe. docEvault emails your admins three days before the trial ends and again on the day it ends. Subscribe any time from Billing: if you subscribe early you keep the rest of the trial, and your card is first charged when it ends. If the trial ends without a subscription, your team can still sign in, view and export everything, but can't create requests or send reminders until you subscribe. See Plans and billing.
If you were invited
Some firms are set up by docEvault directly. You'll get an email titled *[Document Collection Without the Chase] Your complimentary docEvault account* that says which plan you're getting and for how long. Click Set Up Your Account in it and create your password. The link works once, for 14 days; if it has expired, reply to the invitation email (or write to support@docevault.com) and we'll send a new one. Sign in with Google also works afterwards, as long as your Google account uses the same email address the invitation went to.
The first-run checklist
A Get Started banner walks you through the first few steps: securing your account, adding a contact, and sending your first request. You can dismiss it at any time, and it won't reappear once dismissed.
What to do next
- Set up your encryption passphrase. Do this before you upload anything real.
- Add your first contact.
- Invite your team so requests, contacts, and templates are shared rather than locked to one person.
