Storage and file size limits

The per-file upload ceiling and storage allowance on each plan, and what to do when a client's file is too big.

Two separate limits apply: how large any single file can be, and how much you can store overall.

The limits

PlanMax single fileStorage
Easy Start100 MB100 GB per seat
Professional1 GBUnlimited
Enterprise1 GBUnlimited

Storage on Easy Start scales with seats, so a three-seat organization has 300 GB.

When a client's upload is rejected

An upload over the per-file ceiling is rejected. This is the most common reason a contact reports that they cannot upload — see My contact can't upload a file.

On Easy Start, 100 MB is generous for documents but easy to exceed with video, uncompressed phone photos of a long document, or a high-resolution scan. Options:

  • Ask them to scan in black and white or at a lower DPI. A text document does not need 600 DPI colour.
  • Ask them to split a long document into parts and upload each separately.
  • Upgrade to Professional, which raises the ceiling to 1 GB.

Approaching your storage limit

If your usage is consistently hitting a plan limit, docEvault will let you know before anything is throttled. You won't silently lose the ability to accept documents.

Didn't find what you needed? Email support@docevault.com with your organization name and, if it's about a specific request or contact, which one.
