Troubleshooting

Forgot your password

Reset your docEvault login password by email, and why that's a different thing from your encryption passphrase.

Use Forgot password on the login screen to reset it by email.

Two different secrets

This is the point people most often trip over. docEvault has two separate secrets, and they do different jobs:

Login passwordEncryption passphrase
ProtectsAccess to your accountThe contents of your documents
Held byYouYour organization
Can it be reset?Yes, by emailNo — see below

Resetting your login password does not recover a lost encryption passphrase, and it doesn't change it either. After resetting your password you'll still be asked to unlock the vault as usual.

If you signed in with Google

If you use Continue with Google, you don't have a docEvault password to reset — sign in through Google instead. If you can't get into your Google account, that's a reset to do with Google, not here.

After resetting

Signing back in starts a new session, which ends any session you had open elsewhere. See Why was I logged out?.

If the reset email doesn't arrive

Check spam and junk, and confirm you're using the address you actually signed up with. If your organization has since changed your email address, ask an admin on your team to check what's on your user record.

Didn't find what you needed? Email support@docevault.com with your organization name and, if it's about a specific request or contact, which one.
